Hyundai Santa Fe (2012 - 2018)
2.2 CRDi Premium Blue Drive Auto 4WD 5dr
Good workhorse until it unexpectedly broke down
Bought the Santa Fe from a dealer with 30000 miles in September 2019, drove fine, requiring only tire changes and yearly service as per manufacturer recommendation.
Last two yearly services done at local Hyundai dealer in September 21 & 22, with the car with them again for safety recall in November 22.
Drove 20000 miles from September 2019 to December 2022 ( 3 years, 3 months), with driving the car within UK.
In December of 2022 developed a sudden and unexpected judder and noise while turning car at low speed (driving with in town). Taken to local dealer who after checking it reported that the whole transmission had failed and needed changing( transfer box, rear differential, driveshaft/prop-shaft) as it had leaked/metal in it, with a estimate of £14500 for repair. (This repair cost was the same as the sale estimate for the car during my last service).
Complete refusal to provide any assistance or good will by Hyundai UK despite the local branch saying this was premature failure. Not even replying to correspondence when provided with evidence from dealership emails of this premature failure.
Poor customer service unexpected from a Korean brand that prides in its quality of product and customer care.
