Honda Legend (2006 - 2009)
Honda Legend with 17" wheels
I enjoy owning a rare modern classic built at least as well as the Mercedes
Dear John
I thought you'd like some feedback on my 2009/09 Legend, with 17" wheels and
the collision avoidance pack.
I bought it 29Dec09 with 5k miles from a Honda dealer for £23.5k including
5year service pack, 6year warranty, and gap insurance.
I've now driven it 4000 miles in 6 months, at an average of 26 mpg and an
average speed of 40mph.
On long-runs this rises to 28mpg, and can be improved by setting the
excellent radar-controlled cruise-control to 74mph rather than my usual
84mph.
The car has marvellous handling with its intelligent 4-wheel drive, and
feels very safe (particularly when it snowed last winter).
I love the smooth and instant 300bhp 3.5L VTEC engine and its well-matched
auto gearbox. I've not used the paddle gear-changers.
I live near Goodwood and am arranging for a race instructor to help me try
it there.
I like the heated-or-cooled leather seats, sunroof, climate-control, satnav,
bluetooth, display panel, with voice-control not used yet.
There is no auxilliary input for an IPod, though the Bose noise-cancelling
sound system is superb for my usual Radio3 and Radio4 stations, whilst MP3
home-recorded CD's allow a large store of other music.
The main negative about the Legend is that the ride is probably not on a par
with, say, a Mercedes E350.
But then I spent a lot less, get far more fun than I would with a rear-wheel
drive E350, and enjoy owning a rare modern classic built at least as well as
the Mercedes!
Thanks for all your help.
Manny
