Honda Accord Tourer (2008 - 2015)
2.2 i-DTEC ES 150 5dr Estate
Best looking workhorse I've ever owned..
I bought this car last year with just shy of 200k miles, broken air con, blowing ECG and a botched rear bumper repair. I so very nearly didn't when I saw it - but I'm so glad I did. It was peanuts money, but it's paid me back in spades. Quiet, comfortable, spacious in the extreme for such a sleek design. Air con & ECG fixed and a local repair shop handled the bumper. I won't be selling it any time soon. Niggles. That stupid electric tailgate lift (why oh why cant you just lift it manually - even my wife thinks it's unnecessary and she is not a Russian shot putter) does require regular Wd-40 to stop it squeaking on lift. The seats (leather) do trap dirt horribly with that aerated design requiring a regular once-over. The sat-nav is fiddly and for a 'premium' sound system - it's, well.. not BOSE (let's just leave it at that). It drives smoothly and well. It's a bit ponderous on the corners but the brakes stop on a manhole cover (bear that in mind if someone is driving too close - they are awesome). Fuel is heavy around town for a diesel - as it's a heavy old car - but even with high mileage - you get mid 40's mpg on distance runs without having to drive like a rural vicar. The steel is quite thin in places though - so expect some minor dents. And… change the oil religiously EVERY 10k miles - Honda's like fresh oil.
