Honda Accord (2008 - 2015)
2.0 i-VTEC EX 4dr Auto Saloon
Lots of equipment, good ride, diappointing performance, excessive brake wear
You get what you pay for and this car is comfortable, with a good ride and average performance, nice on motorways. The finish is good and the interior on the whole well designed with comfortable seats but a few niggles. For instance part of the dashboard display and the switches on the stalks are obscured by the steering wheel and there is no where to rest your foot near the brake when you have cruise control on. But overall its pretty ok
The big, big disappointment is that a main reason I purchase the car was Honda' reputation for reliability. But I have done only just over 18,000 miles and I have been told I need new rear brake pads and discs. This seems to me to be extraordinary and in previous cars I would have got at least twice that out of the rear brake pads and more out of the discs. The dealer tells me that its the VSA system that applies the brakes a lot (possibly too aggressively). Honda deny this but in the US have resolved a class action on exactly this issue - see here in the NY times http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/04/06/honda-settles-class-action-suit-over-brakes/. Whilst Honda deny this problem and given the cost of the discs and pads replacement at this low mileage I could not recommend this car
