BMW X3 (2018 on)
xDrive30d M Sport Auto 5dr
Best car I've owned
Bought September 2018, when the car was 9 months old, 8k miles. This was my first BMW.
It's a well-spec'd car with sun roof, comfort access, HK sound system and more.
Had a problem with a differential whine after 3 weeks, but local dealer sorted very quickly under warranty. Since then the car has been faultless and now has 25k on clock. Fast, comfortable and a delight to drive with a great driving position. Handles well, great motorway cruiser, and the speed limiter is a useful bit of kit to avoid points on the licence. Loads of boot space and generous rear seat space too. Didn't like the chrome edged grille so sourced an OEM all black one, which has vastly improved the looks.
Had one oil change which wasn't cheap, and the dealer also undertook an end of warranty check with no issues found. Still on the original tyres (Pirelli P-Zero run flats) which are wearing very well indeed after 25000 miles, still 3+mm tread.
Niggles: None at all regarding reliability and performance, but on a car with a list price of £53k, you'd expect Apple Car Play to be standard, not chargeable at a ridiculous £265. BMW needs to wake up here. Even a sub-£30k Qashqai has car play included.
Last month I carried out an exercise to see what I'd replace the car with. Answer: There was nothing that ticked as many boxes, including hybrids. I'd buy another but the 4.0i petrol version.
