BMW M4 (2014 - 2021)
3.0 Competition Pack LCI 2dr Coupe
Fabulous to own and drive, supercar pace but practical and with reasonable running costs.
There's a great video online 'BMW M4 ever thing you need to know', it features an interview with Albert Biermann chief engineer at BMW's M division. He gives a great insight into the F80 & F82 (M3 & M4) design brief and the technology used to create these incredible cars. From an owners perspective these cars are brilliant and offer much of what practical performance car owners want. They look stunning inside and out, drive brilliantly & sound great. The twin turbo straight six is a fantastic unit, it provides huge amounts of torque from low rpm but is still willing to rev to over 7500 rpm not to mention the bhp figures that often exceed BMW's stated figure of 450hp. This combined with 150Kg less weight than the e92 elevate performance significantly. Some dynos have seen figures close to 500hp. The driving experience is really really good, seating position and pedal / steering feel is spot on. Even though these cars are quite big BMW's light weigh design philosophy resulted in a car that weighs a mere 20Kg more than the BMW M2 but with more power from the S55 engine (only the M2 competition shares this engine but in a detuned state). To sum up these cars are fabulous, at list price they are expensive but with nearly new models for M2 money they're fabulous value, they're even available with a superb manual gearbox!
