BMW 7 Series (2009 - 2016)
730d SE 4dr Auto Saloon
A car which seeks to deliver luxury and sportiness but delivers neither.
The car is undoubtedly well made and certainly of a higher fit& finish than the Mercedes S.
I have not heard one squeak or rattle or had any problem at all in 10,000 miles. But then that could go for a Mondeo. With a top range Ford I would not have had to pay extra for heated seats or buy a special BMW lead at £30 odd to connect my iPod ( car was specced for iPod connectivity but still had to buy the lead!!)also as I found out speccing the upgrade sound system does not include DAB radio which apparently cannot be retro fixed. So there I am in a 7 listening to talk sport on crackling AM.
Fails as a sports car because of it's sheer size and in any event it shouldn't even be trying.Too firm and noise intrusive to be a truly pleasant place to be in.Some really stupid features like the engine starter button which after 18 months still annoys and the satnav is average at best.My 2007 Audi A8 had keyless opening as standard not the 7.
I realize many other drivers may be envious of this car- I am pleased to have one ,the lease cost is reasonableand at 30 mpg it's cheap enough to run but it's boring and offers little beyond a quality build and functionality - maybe that's the point.
