Great car with a few electric niggles
This car replaced a MB 320CDi Sport which was more practical, but chewed it’s 35 profile rear tyres on speed bumps. I avoided the M Sport as I didn’t want a hard sporty ride, but chose sports seats as the SE armchairs didn’t provide enough support. Reasonable fuel consumption - very good on long runs - and an excellent car to drive.
Problems have all been electrical with a heated seat fault proving difficult to diagnose and requiring a number of visits / days to resolve. The rear load cover also kept losing it’s memory and stopping in a position that blocked the rear view. It resisted the standard reset procedure and required a new microswitch to resolve. Dealer provide courtesy cars when requested when car was away for a few days so good service from them.
Only other issue is the key fob that opens the tailgate when you bend the wrong way when it’s in your pocket. It caused the tailgate to jam several times against the electric up and over door when inside the garage. Having spent £150 having the scratches repaired I have now ordered a leather key fob cover from BMW for £40 to resolve the problem. Common internet complaint about BMW key fobs - watch out as a rising tailgate in the wrong situation might be expensive!
Prepaid service plan is good - although it doesn’t cover the totally predictable costs of a brake fluid change - and certainly cheaper service costs than the E Class!
No car is perfect so overall I’m well pleased
