DANGEROUS REAR TYRE WEAR
Further to the earlier reviewer's comments on rear tyres - my nearside rear let loose it's inner cord on the M40 one night. Very noisy thump, thump, thump the only indication that something was wrong, but no deflation. Emergency service transporter to home and in to dealer next day.
Dealer service guy reluctant to talk about the issue, but a strong inference that they have seen this happen on other 5GT's. So, two new rear tyres at £335 each (negotiated down from original quote of c.£440) plus laser tracking at £150 (which revealed adjustments needed at each corner).
Not at all happy with the situation and hugely disappointed that there has been no response from BMW on the matter.
