Great car but the definition of the "timing chain nightmare!"
The car has spectacular torque since it is a diesel. Great ride comfort. The bad news is that it is equipped with an N47 engine as well as the 120d, 520d. But the timing chain has broken like a cucumber! This is a very serious problem that continuously happens in BMW diesel engines. Approximate cost of repair is 5000 euro. I am very disappointed with BMW and with honest John as well, because i did a research for reliability before buying this car and it was not mentioned anywhere in the site. I know have to pay 5000 euro for engine overhaul. Search for n47 broken timing chain in the Internet and you will find out the extend of the particular problem with BMW diesels.
