BMW 1 Series Convertible (2008 - 2014)
120d SE 2dr Open Car
never EVER again
An update on my previous report - the car continued to apparently need new air bags on a monthly basis, it also often failed to start for 5/10 minutes until I went away counted to ten and came back to it.
I realised after a while both these issues would usually after someone either someone had sat or had moved the front passenger seat.
I continued to take it back to my local main dealer and told them that I thought there was an underlying problem causing both issues - COMPUTER says NO! was the reply - we can continue to fit new airbags every months until your warranty runs out as there are error codes in the cars computerand we get refunded by BMW Bracknell BUT we 'll do nothing about the starting , no error codes so Bracknell will not pay for warranty work
After a year or so I just had to give up on a car that was fun to drive when it worked but I had absolutely no faith in, tales of solicitors ensured they bought the car back from me without losing too much.
Sadly I felt I had been ripped off and treated like an i**** so I'll never be buying another BMW - indeed my 13 year old Zafira Automatic (the station/dump car) is a paragon of reliability and smoothness compared with my BMW.
The dealer (Arthur daley in an expensive Boss suit) on the day I went to look at cars (advised to go mid week, end of month -wanting to hit targets they would be "amenable" the experts told me) they took my p/ex keys and mislaid the keys for a couple of hours until I eventually signed on the dotted line - I possibly have MUG tattood on my forehead- did I mention the "new tyres" claim? checked one tyre, it was new - 3 were barely legal when I got it home the following week?
Added - 2013 I really wondered If my BMW main dealer actually did anything re the airbag recall and that's why I'd been having new airbags every month
