Excellent car with some issues

My A5 is a beautiful car. The 1.8 engine is an excellent engine for every day use. The build quality is better than my previous A4 S-line saloon which it shares most things with. With the optional Damper system Drive Select - tuning the car has been an eye opener especially in Dynamic mode and Individual mode - it rides pretty well on it's 19 inch wheels and isn't the harsh ride a lot of people claim even when hitting pot holes! However since I have bought this car there have been some issues. One - Engine Management light has come on twice - it's been in twice and apparently the car has sorted itself out - okay! Next I have Audi Side Assist - a light in your side mirrors alerts you when you have any vehicles in your blind spot. The system is brilliant; it works but it also overworks - namely it comes on whenever it chooses to (a mind of it's own) - I've persevered with it as long as I could - I took it in to the dealership and apparently it will be sorted out tomorrow after being told that it's a sensor thing (yes I realised I wasn't driving a Range Rover and then so off road 90% of the time - a point which I think the service advisor didn't quite understand). Would I recommend it - yes I would but being a new car I expected a lot more though I appreciate it is just a machine. Last but not least MPG combined. It's at best in it's 40's when driven in a mix - not far away from my old A4 which was a 38 overall when I sold it - considering this one should be hitting close to 50 and importantly it is a new 1.8 engine from the ground up - this has been hard to accept, though I guess I shouldn't be too harsh. Shouldn't I be?
