Audi A3 (2008 - 2012)
2.0tdi 140 sportback sport
A good solid car with decent economy and performance
Got the car new on a pcp arrangement with full maintenance through job. Used for two years 8 months as a company car running up 118000 miles. Always main dealer serviced and only problem was a leaking water pump at about 80000 miles. Had new pump fitted and cam belt changed at same time. Averaged around 50mpg with mainly motorway driving.
Bought from pcp company when changed job and ran for another two years reaching 163000 miles. Few more issues including new EGR valve (£500) at audiVW specialist as main dealer wanted a lot more. Dual mass flywheel started to wobble at 155000 miles so got replaced along with clutch for £750 - used local clutch centre.
If you want a quick, economical, reliable, well built but unremarkable car for high mileage the Audi A3 is ideal. Went for Sport spec which was a free upgrade at the time - S line looked good but cost lot more. 140bhp engine gives a good balance between economy (and therefore company car tax) and performance.
Lack of a space saver spare was annoying - audi couldn't even supply one as an option.
