Alfa Romeo GT (2004 - 2010)
1.9 JTDm 16v Coupe
Style, presence and a lot of fun to drive
This is my second GT, the first was new in 2005 and leased for 4 years. I am now retired and promised myself another GT if a good one came along. When this Cloverleaf example in Alfa Red appeared, previously owned by an Alfa mechanic and in beautiful condition, with only 20,000 miles, it was hard to resist.
The GT was a unique car which works well. Full saloon room in a coupe means we have even traveled the 1000 miles to Bordeaux with four adults. Whether (grand) touring or on short journeys the car handles well in town, on motorways and especially on our famous bendy coast road. Fuel consumption on our last 2500 mile holiday to France averaged 38 mpg overall with 43 mpg achieved on the UK portion. I have used Shell V Power diesel since I bought the car.
The previous issues of rear view blind spots has been remedied in this model with reversing sensors. The leather seats are supportive and wearing well and the twin climate control is good in both the Scottish winter and the exceptional weather last summer.
Didn't think I liked the low profile tyres at first but these Pirelli's are wearing well, grip in all conditions so far and although the ride is hard compared to my previous GT on standard profile and an inch less on the alloys, it isn't spoiling the experience and keeps me alert for potholes!
Hard to believe it will be five years old in September, maybe I'll keep it until the Alfa Guilia finally appears.
