2024 Porsche Panamera styling, interior and technology
The new Porsche Panamera gets more curvaceous front and rear wings, reminiscent of the Porsche 911 sports car.
At the front, the new Porsche Panamera has an additional air inlet above the registration plate, to help with cooling. The headlights, which have Matrix LED tech as standard, each contain four striking LED running lights while the new Porsche Panamera is available in some striking colours including the burnt orange pictured here.
The side windows of the new Porsche Panamera have a smooth, flowing shape and the outer edges of the rear window are now flush with the contours of the body, for a more integrated appearance.
Of course, the new Porsche Panamera is a large car too. It measures a substantial 5052mm long, 1937mm wide and 1423mm tall.
It remains an accommodating four-door four-seat high-speed luxury express, with a useful hatchback boot revealing a useful load space.
Inside, the new Porsche Panamera has a digital-first cockpit similar to that already seen in the new Porsche Cayenne SUV. Called the Porsche Driver Experience cockpit, it is said to blend digital and analogue controls with everything easy to use even during sporty driving.
Classic round instruments are depicted in digital form ahead of the driver and there's a wide-format touchscreen in the centre that’s packed with apps. There is an optional third screen available too, on the passenger side. This 10.9-inch screen supports video streaming and supports the main infotainment system, but can’t been seen from the driver’s seat.
New Porsche Panamera drivers ‘log in’ to their car using their personal Porsche ID. They scan a QR code with their smartphone and then get use of either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
2024 Porsche Panamera engines, performance and fuel economy
The new Porsche Panamera is released in three versions – Panamera, Panamera 4 and Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid.
Both the new Porsche Panamera and Porsche Panamera 4 have a 2.9-litre V6 turbo petrol engine. It produces 353PS, which is 23PS more than the old car, with 0-62mph performance in the Panamera taking 5.1 seconds and the all-wheel drive Panamera 4 taking 4.8 seconds.
In terms of fuel economy, the new Porsche Panamera averages up to 29.6mpg and produces from 219g/km CO2. The new Porsche Panamera 4 returns up to 27.9mpg and emits from 230g/km CO2.
The Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid combines a 4.0-litre V8 turbo engine with a 190PS electric motor, for a total of 680PS. It accelerates from 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds and has a 196mph top speed.
Thanks to a 25.9kWh plug-in battery, the new Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid has a pure electric range of up to 56 miles, which is considerably greater than the previous model. This means CO2 emissions start from 26g/km and fuel economy, on the official WLTP test, is from 235.4mpg.
Charging the battery of the Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid takes around two and a half hours.
The new Porsche Panamera has dual-chamber two-valve air suspension as standard. This is combined with Porsche Active Suspension Management tech, or PASM. Porsche says it gives a wider range between comfort and sportiness.
The new Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid is available with optional Porsche Active Ride suspension. All-new active dampers are connected to an electrically-operated hydraulic pump. It can build up forces between the body and wheels in a “lightning-fast, highly precise and targeted manner”.
The new Porsche Panamera’s Porsche Active Ride suspension remains flat at all times – and has an innovative extra function that, when engaged, over-compensates for pitch and roll. In this setting, the new Panamera will lean into corners like a motorcycle.
