Avis statement on refunds and cancellations as a result of volcanic ash
Amidst the confusion that has been caused in the travel and tourism markets by the
eruption of the Icelandic volcano, many consumers are in the dark about how to
obtain refunds on car hire bookings they will be unable to fulfil.
Avis Car Hire is happy to announce that it is taking steps to ensure that its
customers are not out of pocket due to the unforeseeable events of the last 36
hours. The company will be waiving the Non Cancellation Fee that customers face if
they fail to turn up to collect their vehicle - a cost of £20 per vehicle and £40
per vehicle on the Avis Prestige Fleet - as well as offering full refunds to
pre-paying customers who contact their local customer service centre.
Avis is keen to help customers get to their destination wherever possible and this
move is designed to minimise the impact of these extraordinary events on our
customers.
