Both very much the same one has Renault technology in abundance and the other Toyota at 5/6 years old I would be looking at the service standard,and service parts such as have the discs replaced,are the tyres as new ,how the inside and outside has been treated the condition of the exhaust system.I am sure that at that age there are good and bad of both models.

What sort of annual mileage are you expecting to cover? If cost of maintenance is a priority, and your mileage is less than 12000 per annum, I'd suggest going petrol, which will certainly be a cheaper used buy. The RAV4 2.0 petrol should prove reliable. However, a 2006 mk2 Honda CR-V petrol auto would be a good choice, They're gaining a lot of praise for longevity and low maintenance costs. See HJ's review in the car-by-car section
