Does any one know whether the 2008 petrol 2.0 Mondeo engine has a steel cam belt or a rubber one? Does it need changing - and if so when does it need changing? Grateful for advice.

All mondeo petrol engines from model year 2000 are steel chain drive.No maintenance reqd untill it is worn out.So could do at least 200k miles if regular oil changes adhered to.hth

They are all chain drive with one exception, I understand that the 1.6 in the latest generation MK4 is a belt cam drive, as it is based on the Yamaha designed Zetec-SE engine of which the roots go back to 1995.
