VW Touran 1.9 diesel - VW Touran poss Dual Mass flywheel? problem - l0rraine0

Purchased car 10 months ago from garage, had nothing but trouble with it and regret ever buying it. Problem this time is I was changing from 1st gear to 2nd, and then a loss of movement and had to be towed home. Engine starts, goes into gear but driveshafts not turning, can hear movement, not grinding. Car wont move anywhere. Have been told (without inspection), it could be DMF problem. Any ideas?? Thanks.

If the clutch feels as though its engaging and disengaging correctly I doubt that the DMF is responsible. The only thing I can think of is that one drive shaft has slid out of the diff possibly the drivers side due to a failed centre bearing - much cheaper than a DMF.

Sounds like total failure of one side of the clutch centre plate but I have not seen that for a while.

had exact same problem with my seat altea 1.9 tdi, the whole center friction plate had just all broken up, nothing wrong with dmf or pressure plate or thrust bearing, i renewed the complete clutch but not the dmf, now everything perfect.

The 1.9 is especially prone to losing one side of the friction lining, bits of material everywhere. When doing a clutch on a car with a dual mass flywheel, always fit a new DMF, never re-use the old one it is false economy.
