astra 2002 2.2l - passenger side allot getting red hot - j49

hi, any advise would be great,the front passenger side alloy is getting red hot after about 6mile journey.i have taken the wheel off & i can turn the wheel hub by hand & it seems to turn free with no problems,brake pad does starts to squeel after about 6miles & only stops when i press the break pedal,thanks

There are two main reasons for a hub to hot a seized bearing or a seized caliper if its the caliper it could be caused by a faulty flexi hose or the caliper itself is seized and it may also have trashed the front bearing .If you keep on driving you will have the chance of buying a new wheel ,caliper ,bearing and probably the hub.

Hi,

Suggest you take it for a run and when you get home, take the wheel off to see if the hub still turns. You should be able to see if the caliper/pads has seized. If the caliper/pads are free then its most likely the hub bearing.
