A few weeks ago while out shopping I came back to my car and started it as usual,but after selecting reverse it cut out and has not stated since.Earlier in the same thing occured,after many pounds and searching with my mechanic friends we diagnosed a open circuit ignition transponder ring.Parts changed timing belt and tensioner lp pump hp pump hp rail sensor ,fuel pressure sensor,ecu and bsi checked and given a clean bill of health.Anyone out has any theries on what is stopping this car from stating as i am using my sons car and he sort of needs it back

Failed immobiliser.

Failed key recognition circuit.

inertia switch checed and ok,immobiliser checked and ok,key recognition circuit is part of the transponder ring aerial,this has been renewed twice.They have been confirmed working by local peugeot dealership Curtis of Newtownabbey,Very helpful by the way but unable to help with my problem as they said it woul just be a matter of changing parts until it started and way too expensive,Also Proscan cannot find any fault codes

Why wasn't the main engine control relay module checked out this relay module sits at the side of the ecu has 15 terminals on disconnecting relay plug viewing plug terminals you will see them marked 1 to 15. Using multi meter on terminals should see a permanent 12v feed at terminals 3-8-11 15 key on or off. I believe the engine code of your car to be rhy on a bosch edc 15c2 system Can this be checked & post back This relay powers up the fuel pressure regulator on your h/pressure if this regulator does not receive it's 12v feed from relay then the ecu cannot activate or drive the regulator, Hense no rail pressure Hth Regards Mickey bo N/ireland

Thanks for the help but I am getting 380 bar at fuel rail.The engine control relay I am assuming you are talking about is also the brown double relay.If not then there is no other modules in the ecu protective box.Isthere a protective fuse to the double relay as I know the relay is part of the immobiliser system?

Rhe output terminals on the 15 pin double relay are 10-1-2-9-7--4 these go to ecu corresponding pin no's 86-1-29-50-87.Bridgeing out terminals 4 & 8 fuel pump should run ign on or off. If you disconnect ecu plug at key on and terminal 86 earthed you should have a 12v feed at terminals no's 1 29 69 87. Ecu earths are 33-49-51 53. the glow plug relay has it;s input too

I think i have found the problem.I drained the fuel tank and a rubbery granule like subtance was found at the bottom of the tank.The tank is going to be steamed washed out and fuel lines flushed and a new fuel filter installed.I will let you know if this cures the non start.

P.S. I removed the hp rail and the same grainy rubbery stuff was there too,it was soaked in carb cleaner overnight and flushed with clean diesel next morning.Thanks for your help MickeyBo

I have removed the tank and had it steam cleaned .It has now been refitted and fuel lines flushed first with red diesel then with white.fuel filter changed.

It is showing no fault codes on scan,and yet it still will not start.HELP

Was there any wireing checks carried out on this car before these parts were fitted. Ie fuel rail pressure sensor the plug on this sensor has 3 terminals marked 1-2-3 at key on must have a 5v feed at terminal 3. Terminal 2 at key on 0.5v's. terminal 1is the earth (ground) readings taken plug connected &back probing using multi meter These readings then would need to be checked at the corresponding ecu pin no's. This unit is a variable resister and any resistance in the wiring can/do cause problems . The ecu 4 earths needs to checked out Check at ecu pin no 69 at key on for 12v's from ignition switch Can you find out what if any wiring checks were carried out

You are not alone with your problems....I too am having the same problems except mine is a 110hdi, the only difference is mine is throwing a P0230 code up.

I have ruled out the low pressure pump in the tank, i have replaced the double relay, cleaned the fuel presssure regulator in a ultrasonic bath and still no joy!!!

The car did run for 15 mins after i put the regulator back in but then cut out and wont start again. I have checked the connections going to the regulator, third piston cut off and the pressure sensor. One of them was showiing resistance when according to autodata it shouldnt. I have also checked the BSI and the connectors under the carpet below the accelerator faor water ingress but these are all fine.

Does mickeybo (or anyone else) think this could be more a loom fault or mechanical??

the p0230 is a fault code for the low pressure pump.When my 406 stopped and would not start in May of this year that was the fault code that was showing on mine.But it turned out to be the aerial transponder ring that goes around the ignition barrel.Have you checked inside the fuel filter,When checking look for tiny flakes of brass or copper .This indicates a lp pump failure

All the electrical looms in the engine bay were inspected on june of this year as the car would not start half way through may.It was a failed aerial transponder ring.

After flushing fuel lines and staem cleaning the tank,the engine has started but only after a tow at 20M.P.H. It still will not start on the key,is there some part of the fueling system I have missed,as I am sometimes getting antipollution fault for about 3 seconds then it goes away.Thanks for all your help MickeyBo but this seems to be definitely a fueling problem.

I replaced the low pressure pump (the one in the tank) and the car done about 1200 miles before the fault came back an she won't start. The first time i replaced it I done a filter change and all was good regarding metal flakes.

The low pressure pump is still working as you can hear it when you turn it on and if you disconnect a fuel line it squirts everywhere.

I will whip the filter off to see if it is free frm metal. Let's hope so, although then I would nw what my problem was.

Yes it is a rhy engine with a bosch motronic 15c2 ecu all voltages have been checked by a local autospark,and declare ok.a snapon diagnostic scan was done but no fault codes relating to the engine was found.Only fault was airbag due to a loose connection under the drivers seat.It still starts with a tow but will not start on the key.Is the ignition barrel faulty?

I have come across a similar problem where vehicle would not start of starter but started when it was parked on a slight incline after doing exhaustive checks we found the cause we found that the starter wire at cranking was causing a rf interference to cranshaft sensor to interupt cam/crank sync. Then theres the possibility at key on at certain components where you get a 12v feed but at cranking you get zero volts.HthRegards Mickeybo
