Selling a car with non-working engine - what is its value?
The timing belt on my Ford Fiesta has snapped and engine is knackered. I would say the resale value of the car a few weeks ago would have been £1,500. (120,000 miles, some minor bodywork damage)
The local garage says if I replaced the engine (1.4 zetec), I would not have much change from £1,000 and it is not without pit-falls. He recommends that I leave the car with him and he will try to get a good price for it if he can, but I dont know what value it should be.

Be very careful about buying a second hand engine, there are more crooks in that business than there are in prison.
