Suddenly at 128k miles, I could not move from 6th to 5th. It's as if the gear is not there to be found - as if blanked off. I can do it by quickly moving gear lever to neutral and then touch 4th and then it's smooth into 5th. 4th to 5th works as smoothly as ever. With engine idling, I can get all gears smoothly. I did have temporary difficulty in selecting reverse about 3k ago - but that's fine at the moment. Local Ford garage suggests removing gearbox to investigate because has no experience of similar difficulties. Do you know someone I could ask? many thanks
