Audi a4 03 tdi - brakes intermittantly applying themself's - mickeybo

The brakes on this audi intermittantly apply them selfs scanner says wiring problem. I'm just wondering has any 1 come across this problem any feedback greatly accepted Regards Mickeybo

I've had a servo 'shrink' effectively increasing the length of the operating rod.

Do they still self apply if you remove the vacuum from the servo?

Check the plenum chamber below the brake servo.It could be full of water if the drains are blocked.This can cause water to enter the servo and apply the brakes.I,m intrigued by a scanner that can tell if you have a wiring fault??

Does the ABS trigger or do you just detect the brakes come on, and if so by how much. Regards Peter

Some manufacturers have a diagnostic fault code that translates as "wiring fault".

In plain english this means; "something's wrong, but I haven't got a clue what it is". As spurious bus readings are often due to a dodgy connection somewhere........

(fixed) Thanks to all who replied. The internals in the brake servo had sheared off a s/hand unit cured the problem Regards Mickeybo
