Manufacturers websites should include the new EU Tyre Label ratings from today - but the vast majority appear not to have done so.

Vredestein seems to have got it right and added this data to their website.

It's easy to criticise the new labels as not giving enough information but something is better than nothing.

Since most tyres sold in Europe have the US-style UTQG ratings of treadwear, traction and temperature then that should have been made mandatory here and included on the new EU label.

Useful information provided by Vredestein, select SIZES for any given tyre type selected (for summer tyres) :

Example for Sportrac-3 below, just select "Show" for Energy label for any given tyre size.

The new Pirelli P7 Blue gets AA or BA depending on size.

I am surprised how low the Vredesteins generally score.

The Pirelli website is rubbish - it advertises that the new P7 Blue gets AA but you can't actually find out the EU labelling for any other of their brands.

And they don't even have the Scorpion Verde All-Season on their website !!!

Much more concerned about stopping distance and general safety followed by fuel economy - never really think of road noise, although I am aware of this subject, and notice the difference between my summer and winter tyres. I would only use this as buying aid if all the other criteria were tied. Pity the topic of tyre life has not been mentioned, to me this is more important than the issue of noise.

Tyre life is covered by the US requirement for Treadwear, traction, temperature moulded on the sidewalls but I don't know of any tyre manufacturers website for UK/Europe that gives that information.

Tirerack gives that information for tyres on sale in the US but many tyres here aren't sold over there AND the US market often uses much harder compounds than we use in Europe - for the identically named tyre

Looks like everyone apart from Vredestein and Michelin are waiting until November's final deadline.

Early days yet, however, there are new tyres coming out that show an improvement over current & previous generations of tyres. For example, the Continental 5 range of tyres but so far Continental don't appear to have disclosed each tyres EU tyre label.
