VW - Towing in Brent - Rainer

Hi all,

Have seen some useful replies on the site, and hoping you can help me with this one...

I have just moved to Brent (North London) and have been parking my car in the residents bay outside my flat using Visitors Permits whilst I wait for a permanent permit.

I went out this morning to find that I had forgotten to put a Visitors Permit on the car today, and had received a parking ticket - stupid of me - annoying, but completely fair. I went back inside resigned to paying the fine.

At lunchtime I went back outside to get the ticket in order to pay the fine, only to find that the car had been towed to a pound.

Brent parking people are saying that they are entitled to tow a car if it is not moved within 30 minutes of receiving a ticket...

Can this be legal? Anyone receiving a ticket reasonably assumes that they have been busted for the day - surely it can't be legal to tow the car just 30 minutes later? There are no signs giving any information whatsoever.

Have I got any avenue of complaint? APCOA seem to be the company administrating Brent.

Many thanks,

Tom

According to Brent's Parking info on the Web if vehicle not removed within 30 mins
of PCN issued in a pay/display or shared parking space (15 if more than 3 PCN's
utstanding) on vehicle) then they can uplift.

Elsewhere they can do it immediately.

If you want to confirm go to their office and ask to see regs setting out terms
and conditions to see if there is anything to appeal against. From what they
have published sand what you say looks like you have been nailed.

Sorry Tom but I think you have to take this one on ther chin. London Councils are empowered to tow away; they could do it immediately.

Brent has Wembley in it's patch as well as the universal mid/outer London problem of tightwads who'd park on street foc everyday to get the tube. If they don't enforce resident's parking with near zero tolerance the residents, quite reasonably, complain bitterly.
