Anyone out there Run a Toyota Avensis 1.8 VMATIC 2010\2011 Petrol

Looking at moving from a C5 to avensis. My C5 written of and i cant find a decent one at the price i want and i dont do enough mileage for a Diesel Tourer

The new Avensis Petrol Tourer looks a good buy with claimed MPG of 42 on combined and is nice to drive. Can pick up a 2011 with 12K on clock for £12,500. That in my book is a good buy for a car 1 year old.

Electric parking brake bothers me as i wont be able to replace pads etc.

Anyone know of any major issues ?

Have just traded my trusty 2003 2.4 Honda Accord in for the 1.8 cvt Avensis Tourer. So far am very pleased with it, even more comfortable than the Accord and much quieter. It's too early to tell what the fuel consumption will be as I'm still playing with it.

Did a lot of research before buying as I didn't want a DSG or other type of dual clutch auto. The pundits all agree it's a solid buy and no major issue since it came out in 2007. I expect to get around 38 to 40 mpg when I settle down and drive sensibly. With the manual you should be around the 40mpg mark and with a low emission figure to keep the tax down too why would you want the more expensive diesel?

The TR has all the bits you're likely to need and as you say are excellent value for money with a 5 year 100,000 mile and extendable manufacturers warranty.

It would seem Toyota UK have recently released a batch of 60/61 plate TR Tourers to the dealers so there is plenty of choice too.

My only gripe so far is the positioning of the electronic parking brake, I like to sit well back which means I have to lean forward to use it. As someone who always used the handbrake when stationary at traffic lights or in stationary traffic I do find it annoying but it's early days and I'm sure I'll get used to it in time.
