Italian Traffic Offence (ZTL zone) - Scotty M

I would be grateful for any advice you could give. I have appealed a traffic offence i incurred in Sardinia in 2010 after driving in a ZTL zone (unwittingly).

Following my appeal it now appears that i have been asked to appear before a judge in Sardinia in June. This summons was written in Italian.

Obviously for me to appear before a judge in Italy and / or for me to employ a lawyer to represent me would far exceed the original cost of the offence, which makes no sense and comes with no guarantees.

If i choose to ignore any further correspondence can i be prosecuted / forced in order to pay these costs even though i am a UK resident. Could this lead to even more serious repercussions? Could i even be extradited?

With regard to the last part of your question, there is a possibility that you might have grief next time you go thru a passport control on entering Italy. I do not know what the odds might be bit there is a risk
