ford focus 1.8 diesel 2004 - starting problems - badman22

took car out to town ,parked up,returned to car but it refused to start.8888 appeared on dash then returned to normal but car will not turn over.turn the key and nothing happens.any help as going nuts,checked fuses,diconnected battery then reconnected but still the same had to be towed home.thanks

Are you sure the battery has not died. Does anthting work, like headlights. Regards Peter

yes all lights work battery fully charged.

Does the engine turn over but not start? My cam sensor went and the engine died and would not restart.

If it won't even turn over, is any power reaching the starter motor / solenoid? Is the immobiliser disengaged (no flashing light above stereo)?
