Renault Grand scenic 1.6 2005 - Grand scenic electric handbrake unit - GR8GUY

Hi all, Im hoping someone can clarify something for me and all other grand scenic owners.

Does anyone on here know for certain if a used electic parking brake unit can ever be paired to another car ???

My unit failed and I eventually had to just cut the cables to allow me to use the car.Ive been driving the car but spent past couple of weeks in limbo. I have been asking advice and trying to find a used unit with same model number as mine as well as trying to get a new unit at knock down price. Ive had plenty of advice but with very conflicting views regarding reprogramming these units. It seems the unit must be paired /reprogrammed to your car before it will work.

Renault have said a used unit definitely cannot be reprogrammed whilst others are adamant they can. These get snapped up quickly from vehicle dismantlers so plenty folk must have tried.
It would be great to be able to have a definitive answer for me and all other scenic owners.

Renault charge over £400 for the part plus a reprogramming and fitting charge
