NCD - 2 Car Insurance Policies - Craigdm

I'm aware that the NCD is carried by the car and not the driver, in that it's not possible to use your earned NCD on two cars. However suppose I take out a second policy and build up an extra lot of NCD on my second car, if I then have a claim in one of my cars, does this effect both policies come renewal time?

It would seem a bit unfair, but I'm sure most policies have a question about claims in the past 5 years or something similar, and don't caveat this with regards to if the claim is on a different vehicle. This would seem most unfair if it is indeed correct.

A claim on one policy may affect the premium on both policies at renewal time but will only affect the NCD of the policy where you made the claim.

The question "any accidents, claims or convictions" needs to be answered truthfully - even if the claim is for an unrelated car, including hire car.
