Peugeot 206 SW 2004/53 - Peugeot 206 SW Rear window/wiper problem - Andrew-H

I am a car dealer and one of my 1st and best customers have came back to me with an issue that is frustrating us. The rear window opens seperatly to the boot but does not de-mist and the rear wiper does not work. Possible a seperate issue (bulb may need changing) but the 3rd brake light also doesn't work. The vehicle was taken to a Peugeot specialist local to us and they said the vehicle will need a rear window replacement as the rear wiper takes its power from the glass. My customer has found that they can claim on their insurance (which doesn't affect their no claims bonus) for a replacement rear window and would have to pay an excess of £75. When autoglass arrived, they said that they had never heard of this and said that replacing the window would be a waist of time and money. We have already replaced the motor with a brand new one. Can anyone else confirm whether Autoglass or the Peugeot specialist is correct. Thanks in advance. Andrew-H

I am not sure about this model, but on many hatchback/estate models where wiper/hrw do not work, the problem can be in the wiring from body to tailgate.Has the wiring been tested for power and earth supplies? Also some cars incorporate a safety interlock system that prevents the wiper working if the rear glass is open.It is possible there is a fault with the latch microswitch circuit to rear gate.hth

Don't know how the 206SW is arranged, but my 207SW has a hatch-window in the tailgate. The wiper motor is in the tailgate and the wiper spindle separates when the glass is lifted. The only wiring to the glass is for the demister - which in my car has not worked for years, despite the claim from an autoelectrician that it did (I paid £70 for that useless info).

If your wiper motor runs without turning the blade, maybe it is disengaged?
