Hi Guys,
I've got a VW passat 2006 2.0tfi and the other week i had a "Electronic Parking brake" fault on the car, took it to VW and they diagnosed it £80 later to be the ABS unit has failed.
They said they are going to try and replace it under warranty, even though its way past the warranty period, but i see this as they know of the problem. Now, the cost of the unit is £1,500 + vat and labour which i can't afford to pay. Being that the ABS is a safety related equipment, do they have a responsibilty to change this?
I hope they will honour what they say, as i just had to prove the car has a full service history (i bought it used) i've got all the proof but the last company who serviced it on two occasions didn't right exactly what part they used...My local VW dealer is teling me that my chances are slim that warranty pay for it because the services dont mention if they were VW parts of not but the garage told me it was out of warranty at that time but they used parts that match up to exactly what VW will use....that shouldn't cause a problem should it?
They simply want to see that the car has been looked after apparantly.
Thanks in advance.
