Hi All.
I am a bit stumped. I have a 2003 Nissan Micra 1.2 se. It has been overheating. Today, I topped up the coolant and ran it on idle, after a bit the expansion tank was to the top and it was spitting coolant out. I checked the thermostat and it is definitely knackered. The fan was not kicking in so I will change the temp sensor too.
The problem is this, I topped it up again and there is white smoke coming out of the exhaust, all coolant was lost so I suspected the head gasket, however, there is no milky residue in the engine or the expansion tank. I did a compression test and some were better than pthers, 90psi-150 but eventually I could turn it over and achieve 120-150 psi.
What do you lot think..head gasket or craked head??..there are no leaks. Head gaskets I have done in the past have all has oil and water mixed
Thanks.
