Hi,
Over the weekend I tried to change the rear brake pads on my wife's 1007. On the right side the piston just would not go back in. It turns clockwise but does not retract (it will not turn anticlock)
I went to the local dealers, from whom we bought the car and to whom we have always taken the car for servicing, to try and talk to a technician about the mechanism inside the chamber but they point blank refused to talk to me.
"We can't offer advice about brakes in case you sue us" - what utter rubbish
"We have never experienced that problem" - I don't believe that
"Book it in and we will apply out expertise to fixing the problem for you" - I will never darken their door again after these responses
So, can somebody on here offer the advice that Peugeot refuse to divulge. I just want to know if it is worth my while trying to repair the mechanism or whether I should just buy a new caliper. The piston is not seized it just won't wind back in. I have removed the caliper (so it's not a back pressure problem) and applied pressure to the piston in the vice whilst trying to wind it but it just will not budge. Is it likely the mechanism has jammed and if I take the piston out I will be able to free it off?
I don't want to dismantle the caliper and then find it is scrap because then I cannot get to the motor factors to buy the replacement. Equally I don't want to spend a hundred quid on a replacement if it is not necessary.
All advice gratefully received. Thanks Jon
