Ford S-MAX - Ford S-MAX Key problem - Oxford Dave

I've got 2 keys for my S-MAX.

One works fine all the time.

The 2nd key won't open the car if it has been left for over 20 minutes, but if I open the car with the working key then the 2nd key will lock it and open it again no problem.

This behaviour is consistent. The 2nd key works fine until the car has been left for over 20 mins then it won't work at all until the 1st key has been used to unlock the car then the 2nd key works fine again.

Has anyone got any idea what is wrong with the 2nd key and what I need to do to fix it.
