Is a welded alloy wheel an MoT failure?

My tyre supplier showed me a hairline crack in my wheel rim of my Alfa Guilia. He said it's all too common these days from potholes. He arranged for it to be professionally welded. I have since been told by one garage they consider a welded rim an MoT fail, and by another that they consider it a pass. What is the official ruling?

Section 5.2.2 of the MoT inspection manual states that 'Any fracture or welding defect on a wheel' is a dangerous fault, and therefore a failure, so a wheel that has been correctly repaired by welding is not a failure, but an inadequate repair would likely result in being marked as defective.
