I'm having a problem with the clutch on my ML 270Cdi 6 speed. The car is 2 years old and has only done 14K mls and I think this lack of use may be causing the problem.
Sometimes the point at which the pedal meets resistance when declutching is nearer the floor i.e the amount of free play varies and on occasions the pedal does not return and I have to put my toe under it and lift it up. It doesn't happen all the time nor can I make it happen "to order" so I cannot demonstrate it to my dealer. There are no fluid leaks and it does not feel as if there is air in the system.
Any ideas?

I would post the question to www.mercedesclub.org.uk - a very active forum specifically for Mercedes

peterH - thanks for that. I've not heard of that forum but I'll give it a try.

What you describe sounds more like a sticking clutch cable rather than a hydraulic system, are you sure it is hydraulic?

jud - yes I think so. My Dealer is talking about fitting a new slave cylinder to see if this cures the problem.
