Toyota Avensis - car been sitting a dealer since last July - brignac

Hi all - I'm interested in a car that is at a local dealer - it is good value - but the only downside is that it is has been sitting on the forecourt since last July.

Would you be worried about this? It needs a new battery which I have figured into the price and am going to get it inspected by someone who knows what they are doing. The brake discs are rusted, but the price is good.

What do you think? The dealer is keen to move it on and I'd prefer a car that was cheaper - one that I'd get the work on it, knowing it had been done.

What do you all think. The dealer says it's been driven periodically.

Thanks

Is it a main Toyota dealer, or independent?

How old is the car?

Are they offering any kind of warranty?

What is its mileage? (obviously none of it done recently)

Why do you think it hasn't sold after all this time?

Indie garage, Dec 05, 82,000, service history up to 40,000 and then missing, but this maybe resolvable

Low spec. I think it hasn't sold because everyone wants diesels around here - fooloishly in my book. High miles puts others off

thanks

Sounds like it might be a 1.8vvti!

Check the threads on here on the Toyota owners forum regarding oil consumption problems. If this car has no service history for over 40k miles and has sat on a forecourt for months ask yourself why. I would be very wary.
