rear end shunt non disclosure of other driver - suzuki78

my car was hit from behind at about 15mph in the ice just before xmas by another car, after accepting liability at the time and offering to pay for the damage without the insurance getting involved, i did not hearing back after 2 weeks from him so i let my insurance deal with it, while waiting for this to be dealt with i found out his insurance is only for a 1.6 and he;s actually got a 1.8 turbo engine fitted. it took 3 months for his insurance company to come and view his car (no mention of wrong engine) and in this time he has repaired his car so his insurance are now refusing to pay out as the damage to my car is not consistant with his!! annoyed is an understatement. can any one help in telling me where i stand? thanks

I answered this through Ask Lucy and if you come back to me I can deal with it.
