Astra Mk1 1.7 LS DTI 16V ECO - Air in Fuel Line - AndyMS

My Astra MK1 1.7 TDI ticks over ok but when I press the accelerator it cuts out. My local mechanic has discovered that air is getting into the fuel line upon accelerating but is currently unable to establish why.

Help please

The only place I have experienced air ingress, on a Astra, was the copper washers on the top connection to the fuel filter. Hope this helps.

I've made an error. I've just been advised that it's a MK4. Also my mechanic says when he pumps desiel directly into the injectors that it runs ok at higher revs.
