Hi all

Had a prob with my 306. Sometimes the engine will keep running after I remove the key (it eventually stops when I press the brake) and cooling fan will then run constantly, meaning I have to disconnect the battery to prevent it draining.

I took it to an amateur mechanic who pointed out a burnt out, melted fuse in the interior fusebox as the problem. I think he's wrong as a poster on a Pug GTI forum described the exact same symptoms and about 5 people all said it was a problem with the cooling fan plug / connector, which in his case it turned out to be. Also, the fuse for the fan is in the engine bay box. Does this sound right?
