The father-in-law had an issue with the revs rising on his Auris on Wednesday this week although it wasnt accelerating. At first it sounded like a sticking accelerator (popular Toyota issue!), but at the same time the brake pedal went solid and there was a strong 'clutchy' smell. All this happened very quickly and took him a bit by surprise. Does anyone have any experience of similar events or ideas/suggestions as to the problem. He's 80, had the car 3 months and in a worried state about it. The cars 3 years old and bought from a dealer.
