are the police obligated to post detours after a road accident when the road is closed for hours

road detour after serious accident - Dutchie

Hello carol-anne here in my neck of the woods the A63 major road into Hull and out have been quite a few accidents .That means traffic into Hull and out is blocked for hours. No detours are posted by the police or very late after the accident. If your lucky and listen to the right radio channel there might be some information and the driver can make a desicion to get of this road if possible. To your question I would say no they are not obliged by law to post detours.Anybody tell me Iam wrong.

Here on the A34 Oxford to Newbury, closures for accidents are regular and diversions are not signposted.

Not mandatory to set up diversionary route but does help if blockage of long duration to get the assistance of Co Council Highways to sign diversion. Everybody strapped for cash now so may not turn out.

Control Rooms have access to the radio, national and local, for them to broadcast a 'Roadtraff' report periodically.

Scrapped for cash Dwight how often have i heard that phrase, when there was money nothing changed still massive hold ups on this road.We can build 1 biljion nuclear submarines to blow everybody to kingdom come but we can't create decent road systems, strange the human species.

Agree D

Scrap the Harrier which has been proved to be superior to the Tornado and which was very suited to take off and land on a carrier. Two carriers being built but will have to wait for years for aircraft.

What say you AS ?

Hello Dwight

Takes me back a lot of years I used to work on the Buccaneer heavy machine shop on the milling machines. The buccaneer was vertical take off.

Time flies where have the years gone :)

No it wasn't, the harrier was the first operational VTOL fixed wing aircraft, the
Bucaneer was a very good carrier based aircraft.

Long time ago about fourty years when I worked on the Bucaneer Hawker Sidley Brough.

Had a look at a video of the Buccaneer take off on a aircraft carrier it was classed as a semi vertical take off very short runway needed.I cant remember if we worked on the Harrier at Brough.Have to look it up.

Yes you did work on the Buccaneer at brough alongside the Beverley, the buccaneer was built like a brick built 'outhouse' and definately was not VTO, but a very strong aicraft for low level work but heavy and in modern terms slow.
