Ford Mondeo TDCi 130 - smoking from oil filler Ford TDCi - bk.bas

Have the opportunity to but an 02 Mondeo with FFSH and 82K miles on the clock. Only thing I notice though is that there is alot of smoke coming out the oil filler cap when removed after a short test drive This is my ffirst Diesel so was wondering if this is normal or if it shows some form of problem

A lot of smoke is not a good sign(worn piston rings/blocked breather/valve-stem oil seals/poorly seating inlet valves);however diesels with their high compression do get blow-back in several areas especially as the mileage creeps up....you only have to look in the inlet manifold/air pipes/air-boxes of most run-of-the-mill diesel engines when you strip them to see an oily sludge.
