Vauxhall Astra Petrol - buying a category d total loss car - chrk70

I understand the V5 does not show a cat d write off, so if buying a suitably repaired cat d write off, what if any are the disadvantages? Also Tesco say they do not insure previous write offs and that cover would fail in the event of a claim - how would they know and are all insurance companies the same??

Write offs are registered on a database for all insurance companies to see. It's up to individual companies to decide whether they wish to insure them and at what price.
