Ford Focus Zetec 1.8 TDDI - Ford Focus diesel - a few questions - mccririck

I tested a 2003 model today, it had a few things wrong with it, just wondered if they were easy to fix and if it was worth buying:

1) Central locking doesnt work on front passenger door - has to be opened from inside.

2) Air-con needs charged

3) No service history - 118,000 miles - cam belt?

4) Odometer reads 95,000 miles as dash was changed because fuel guage didnt work

Apart from that it ran nicely and was good to drive.

I don't know to much about them except that the TDDI has the non self destructing engine which is an advantage.

Central locking shouldn't be to difficult to fix, aircon recharging will likely be needed on most secondhand cars and is not to expensive, don't know the mileage for a cambelt change but I would have thought it would have been done by now.

If you can get it for the right price, allowing for the items needing attention, should be OK.

It's quite likely that the the aircon has a leak and usually needs a replacement condenser. Obviously, that will be more expensive than a recharge only.
