I have received a letter from this organisation and on viewing the web, not too many people are complementary about their practices. An article in the Observer recommends contacting the Trading Standards local to the company.
During March 2009, I was cold called by them and given the impression that they were acting on behalf of Sky and would I like my Sky box insuring. It seemed a good offer and I went with it , giving my Switch card details over the phone, for as I understood it, a one off payment. During December 2009, TV Channel 4 did a program on such companies and were not too impressed. I therefore contacted Sky who informed me they had no connection with this company and to be cautious. At this point I wrote to my Bank and asked them to ensure no more payments were made to the company .
I made an assumption that like most Insurance companies, the company would send out a reminder a month in advance (February) warning me of the renewal date and at that point I would have informed them I was not interested, end of contract.
Their last letter (May 5 th ) indicates that I owed them a £90.00 renewal fee and a £27.50 Admin charge for late renewal. The tone of their letter is to my mind, threatening and uncomfortable to read. The contract print is so small it is very poor to read and unclear. I have written a letter in response to theirs, indicating I will not be paying any monies to them, so far as I’m concerned the contract is at an end.
I have contacted Consumer Direct but they were not too re-assuring but they seemed aware of the company.
In your experience, can they demand this money, do I have to pay them or can I ignore them. Sensible comments would be appreciated.
Many thanks.
