Racial discrimination by UK company: what to do? - Leif

About 3 years ago I had two interviews in succession for two jobs with the same telecoms company in the UK, one that matched my experience, and one that didn't. The first was with an Indian, who first told me that the English are 'not good enough to be employed' and then made it clear I would not get the job. The second interview was for the role that was unsuitable. I was angry at the obvious racial discrimination in the first interview, but what can you do?

Recently an ex-colleague emaiiled me about his experiences applying for jobs with the same company. He applied for two software development jobs over a period of a few months. His experience was a good match for both. He did not even get an interview. Both jobs went to Indians. In one case the Indian was a friend of the Indian team leader, and had no development experience, as he was a tester, hence he was unqualified for the role.

Does anyone know what the legal routes are in these cases? It strikes me that there is clear evidence that the company are recruiting unsuitable Indians in preference to UK staff. I presume legal action would cost a fortune, and have an uncertain outcome? And I assume I do not stand a chance given the time lapse.

By the way, I don;t give a damn about any money issues, but I would like to put a stop to this racist behaviour.

(Since your making some quite strong claims about a company, I have replaced the town with "in the UK" so at least people know it's in this country. Boris (Mod))
