mercedes Benz slk 230 - replacing lower ball joints - atrier

Are any special tools required to replace the lower ball joints? It appears on inspection that removal of the disc should make everything within reach. The car is 03 registered. All hints gratefully received. Delphi parts are on offer. Any thoughts on these?

Normally, there is a special tool but it isn't always necessary. A workshop manual will give you the torques, so it would be better to have one of these I suppose.

I hope this helps..

You'll need a special spring compressor to get the spring tension off then you can remove the bottom arm and using a hydraulic press push the old joint out of the arm and press the new one in.

Unless you are up to speed on this type of repair dont attempt it. The amount of energy in the springs will take your face off if it lets go.

Delphi stuff is ok.
